Let this Lent’s 40 Days change the rest of your Life!
The season of Lent is a gift to us from the ancient church, when an early church leader mandated a 40-day period of spiritual preparation before Holy Week and Easter, to mirror Jesus’ 40 days of prayer in the wilderness. This year during Lent (Feb 14-March 21), I’m challenging you to prepare not just for Easter (April 1), but for the rest of your life—with a closer, more joyful, and more powerful relationship with God.
Why? Because a life and a family that’s woven together with authentic, intentional prayer will be more doable, more durable, and most of all, more adventure-full than a life or a family without it. So get ready for a short-term commitment that will bring a life-time harvest: Kaw Prairie’s Lenten 40 Days of Prayer.
It all begins Feb. 14, with our Ash Wednesday 7:00pm family worship service with Communion and the imposition of ashes on our foreheads. It is a stand-alone Holy Day service, but prepares us to understand and maximize our engagement for the 40 Days to begin the following Sunday, February 18, and our five Wednesday night 6:30-8:00pm events Feb. 21- Mar. 21.
So not only will we be experiencing Sunday messages and doing daily scripture readings, prayer, and reflections, we’ll also come together for five weeks of Wednesday Lenten Soup Suppers & Lent-Events with age-appropriate offerings for the whole family.
Set the dates in your calendar app now—and get ready for a fruitful forty-day experiment with prayer!
