What is WILD Students?
Being a teenager is hard and awkward and brings a lot of unique challenges. But it's also the perfect time to develop a walk with God that will last long after they walk across the stage at graduation. That’s the goal of WILD Students, our student ministry.
We want to prepare and empower middle and high school students by teaching them to understand God's Word and live out their faith. We believe it’s important for students to have a safe, engaging environment to express doubt, explore faith, and experience God.
What does WILD Students do?
Sunday Mornings
Each Sunday morning, 6th – 8th grade students meet together upstairs in the youth room, after family ministry dismissal in worship. We play games, discuss curriculum or a Bible study, and talk about how our faith affects our lives in middle school. These gatherings are casual, welcoming, and open to any student! Our 9th-12th grade students stay in worship to listen to the teacher for the day.
Weekly Hang Times, Social and Serve Events and more!
Each week (mostly) we have a Middle School Sunday and High School Wednesday Hang Time where we like to have fun, eat a meal together, and just fellowship (hang out!). In addition to weekly hang times, we have regular social and serve events. These events are perfect for meeting other students and developing meaningful relationships. Check out the upcoming events on kawprairie.info to find out when our next gathering is!
Confirmation
In the fall we begin a year-long study into student’s faith and help them discover why they believe what they believe. Students are pushed to think about their faith and to discover and define where they are with God. At the end, we host a Confirmation Service where students are celebrated.
Summer Camps and Trips
Each summer, our middle school students spend a week at Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp, where they experience high ropes, white water rafting, and mountain climbing. And, in the midst of all the fun, they grow closer to each other and God. Our high school students also go on a week-long mission trip. Over the course of seven days, they serve alongside amazing organizations and learn about the unique challenges found in more-diverse communities.
